Japanese terrain

This week I have three small pieces of Japanese themed terrain.

They were given to me by IlVJ who got them cheaply in Japan, they are rubbery plastic pre painted collectibles that are very popular there.

I spray painted them with a clear varnish, then gave them an oil wash and finally drybrushed them. The result is pretty good and after basing they look good on the tabletop.

I plan to use them with my Samurai in 1/72 scale, or with the few 28mm Rpg pieces I have, I'm not too worried about the scale, on the table they will just do.

Rogue trader Imperial Guard Sentinel squadron

This is a trio of old Rogue Trader sentinels I picked up at the games club some 10-15 years ago, built, converted and painted.

They were green and didn't match my IG colours, so I stripped, but kept the light conversions as the previous owner made them.

After more than a decade I decided it was time to paint them.

I'm happy with the result and realized that now with Ogryns and Sentinels, I should paint more infantry, we will see when I get around to doing it.

Another Battletech game

Yesterday we had another Battletech game, the second one in our loose campaing seeing the Smoke Jaguar invasion of the Draconis Combine.

This time a unit of second liner and untested clan mechs had to break through the Kurita line to get closet to Luthien, the Combine capital.

The clan side had a Marauder IIC, two Locusts IIC, a Shadow Hawk IIC (all unseen models), a Hunchback IIC, a Nobori-nin, a Hankyu and a stand of Elementals.

They were facing a mixed company of mechs and vehicles including: Hatamoto-Chi, Mauler, Cyclops, Grand dragon, Hunchback, Cicada, Whitworth, Trebuchet, Commando, Spider with a Demolisher tank and a Packrat supporting the mechs.

The clan mission was to make it out of the table on the Kuritan left flank. The clan decided to spread out on the length of the field to force the spheroids to spread out their force as well and while the clan left flank attracted the lighter mechs of the opposition, the right flank made a push for the big hill defended by the heaviest Kurita machines.

In the end the plan was successful and the clan managed to exit about half of its force destroying the grand dragon in the process and only loosing the Hunchback IIC (as the pilot had to do to save face from a previous act of cowardice).

It was another great game but, after two defeats,  Kuritan force needs a solid victory to get back in the game.

We plan to have another two games, one involving a reinforcement of clan Nova Cat and the following representing the coordinator Theodore Kurita battling it out with the enemy of Smoke Jaguar.

That will conclude the first leg of our campaign and then we will move to a different invasion lane and eventually play a few games with each invading clan to culminate with the battle of Tukayyd with Comstar repelling (hopefully) the invaders.

It is an ambitious project, let's hope we can see it to the end.

EDIT: a few more pics from other playeers.

WW2 British 8th Army in North Africa part 3

This is the 3rd and final post of my British 8th army infantry for Bolt Action.

I have completed a set of Perry Miniatures with 40 figures and for infantry I should be good. I ended up with three squads, two of regulars and one of veterans, plus command and support teams.

To this I add a few vehicles and the army is playable. In the future I might add a gun and a second Matilda that I got in a trade, but was debating if adding to this army or use it for other projects (Soviet land lease).

Following there are the last squad (veterans) and a sniper team.

Nine men veteran squad, for these I used the heads provided in the Perry set to turn these into S.A.S., that way they can serve dual purpose. 28mm, Perry Miniatures, painted by Ginzio
