Khorne reinforcements for Warhammer (Oldhammer)/Rinforzi di Khorne per Warhammer (Oldhammer)

 A substantial addition to the forces of Khorne in my Warhammer army.

The beastmen and thug archers are the last models from the Battlemasters set that my friend Marco gave me many years ago.

The goblins are an addition to for the 120 chaos goblins unit that I should be able to finish with the remaining Ral Partha goblins I have to paint (20-25).

The warrior of Khorne is made with various bits I had lying around, I used the head of a daemon produced by a store in Torino that I was given many years ago, it came with 2 heads and the unused one looked like a cool sculpted breastplate for a chaos warrior.

The Bloodletter was a lonely one I had in my pile.

Un sostanziale rinforzo per il mio esercido di Khorne di Warhammer.

I beastmen ed i thugs arcieri sono gli ultimi pezzi della scatola di Battlemasters che il mio amico Marco mi regalo' tanti anni fa.

I goblin sono un'aggiunta per l'unita' da 120 chaos goblins su cui lavoro da quando sono venuto in Canada, dovrei riuscire a completarla con gli ultimi pezzi della Ral Partha che ho (20-25).

Il guerrero di Khorne e' fatoo con vari avanzi che avevo, ho usato la testa di un demone prodotto da un negozio di Torino che avevo ricevuto anni fa. Il pezzo aveva due teste e quella che non ho usato mi sembrava andasse bene come pettorina scolpita per un guerriero del chaos.

Il Bloodletter era un pezzo singolo che avevo nel mucchio.

WWII French infantry/Fanteria francese della prima guerra mondiale

 This is a set of French infantry that IlVJ gifted me years ago, I finally got around to paint them. 

The set also contained 4 anti tank gun crew that I painted, but I still have to find a gun, so they have not been photographed, they will have to wait until they are complete with their gun.

Questo e' un set di francesi della seconda guerra mondiale che IlCJ mi regalo' anni fa, finalmente li ho dipinti.

Il set contiene anche 4 serventi per un cannone anticarro. Li ho dipinti, ma siccome non ho ancora trovato loro un cannone, dovranno aspettare prima di essere fotografati come unita' completa.

WWII Japanese infantry/Fanteria Hiapponese della Seconda guerra mondiale

 These are all the Japanese models I had left to paint, some leftovers from what IlVJ painted many years ago, plus some stuff I found in a box of toys from when we were kids, I took all that could be salvaged and gave it a quick paint job.

Most stuff is Esci and Airfix, but I'm sure there are a few old Atlantic and a few which were probably from some toy bag bought at some newsagent in the late 70s or early 80s.

One day I would like to have a few small games in the Pacific theatre, painting these models helps keep the hope alive.

Questo e' tutto cio' che mi rimaneva di Giapponsei, alcuni avanzi da quello che IlVJ dipinse tanti anni fa, piu' alcune cose che ho trovato in una scatola di giocattoli di quando eravamo bambini, ho preso tutto quello che si poteva salvare e l'ho dipinto velocemente.

La maggior parte di questi pezzi sono Esci e Airfix, ma ci sono sicuramente alcuni Atlantic e qualcosa proveniente da qualche sacchetto comprato dal giornalaio tra la fine deglia anni '70 e l'inizio degli anni '80.

Un giorno mi paicerebbe poter fare qualche partita (anche piccola) nel teatro del Pacifico, dipingere questi pezzi mi serve a mantenere viva la speranza.

Warzone is not dead/Warzone non e' ancora morto

 I'm not talking about Warzone Resurrection, I'm talking about my own Warzone collection.

A few years back, when I moved to Canada, I took with me all the Warzone figures I had and decided to paint them all and call it a day.

Over the years I manage to get together a couple of first edition games (second is way better) and use the figures for a few Rpgs (Rifts) and other wargames (I'm actually using some right now for a Stargrave campaign).

During a visit to Italy, my friend Andrea offered me his Warzone metal figures, 36 of them to be precise, mostly stuff that I already had, but I couldn't resist the offer and I traded them for some painted WWII germans.

These are the first three of them, the balance is still in Italy (luggage allowance is not very kind to heavy metal models), but I plan to take them here as soon as I can and finish those as well, for some reason Warzone charm never dies.

I'm trying to find someone to play second edition, I will post pictures of games if I find an opponent.

Non parlo di Warzone Resurrection, ma della mia collezione di Warzone.

Alcuni anni fa, quando mi sono trasferito in Canada, ho portato con me tutti i pezzi di Warzone che avevo e ho deciso di dipingerli tutti e finire il "progetto".

Durante gli anni passati qui sono riuscito a mettere insieme un paio di partite con la prima edizione (la seconda e' decisamente migliore) ed usare le miniature per qualche GDR (Rifts) ed altri wargames (li sto attualmente usando per una campagna di Stargrave).

Durante una visita in Italia, il mio amico Andrea, mi ha offerto i suoi pezzi di Warzone in metallo, 36 per essere precisi, quasi tutta roba che avevo gia', ma non ho potuto resistere e li ho barattati per alcuni tedeschi della seconda guerra mondiale dipinti.

Questi sono i primi tre pezzi di quel gruppo, il resto e' ancora in Italia (i limiti di bagaglio sono problematici per le miniature in metallo), ma penso di portarli in Canada al piu' presto e di dipingerli, per qualche motivo il fascino di Warzone non muore mai.

Sto cercando di trovare qualcuno per giocare alla seconds edizione, postero' delle foto se riescoa trovare un avversario.

Arcane Monstrosities orc stone thrower/Catapulta degli orchi delle Arcane Monstrosities

 This is a very precious piece for me and IlVJ, he traded the stone thrower and the crew separately over some years and let me have it to paint.

It is part of Tony Ackland's Arcane Monstrosities line, it is an old and quite rough sculpt, but it oozes character and style, painting it was a real pleasure.

Questo e' un pezzo molto prezioso per me e IlVJ, mio fratello ha barattato la catapulta ed i serventi separatamente nel corso di alcuni anni e mi ha lasciato l'onore di dipingerli.

Si tratta di un pezzo della serie Arcane Monstrosities di Tony Ackland, e' un pezzo vecchio e scolpito un po' grezzamente, ma trasuda stile e carattere ed e' stato un piacere da dipingere.

These are a few Normans I got from Dave, it has been nice to paint them, it brought back memories of when I was painting my WAB army many years ago.

New project (like I needed one...)/Nuovo progetto (come se me ne servisse uno...)

 This is the very slow beginning of a new project I came up with talking with IlVJ and our friend Andrea. 

As usual, we come up with projects while spread over three different continents, me in Canada, IlVJ in Japan and Andrea in Italy, but what can we do, gaming buddies are those you discuss stuff with and come up with ideas, wherever they happen to be. 

The idea started when we saw someone playing Bold Action with 1/35 scale models, we were talking about how crazy that idea is and how much time it would take to put together a force, as well as how big a table should be to make it work. But we thought it still would be cool and IlVJ also suggested how easy it is to find second hand Tamiya kits in Japan. The next thought was, what if we played using only small infantry squads? The idea would be of a 5-10 man force per side, a true skirmish, with no support weapons or vehicles.

We could play on a 4"x4" table with a lot of terrain and use the odd support weapon or vehicle as objective or terrain piece, just to give us the opportunity to flex some modelling muscles.

I started checking on line for some rules and I found a home made set of rules that in just a few pages gives you a simple system to fight it out with that specific scale of models.

While visiting IlVJ at New Year I did some moderate shopping, I got three sets of German figures to start working on something and my brother also happened to have a model that his friend James gave him to restore, an old Italian self propelled Bassotto with some tankers and a Bersagliere to go with it.

So, as a soft start, I quickly restored the tank commander and the Bersagliere, base them and gave them weapons (they were missing them), they are not prize winning models, but they will do for gaming purposes, in the future I will build the Germans I got and restore as best I can the vehicle, then we will see if we actually manage to get someone else involved and maybe get some game out of this.

Questo e' il timido inizio di un nuovo progetto che e' venuto in mente a me, IlVJ ed il nostro amico Andrea.

Come al solito e' un progetto partorito a tre menti su tre continenti, visto che io sono in Canada, mio fratello in Giappone e Andrea in Italia, ma si sa, i compari dei pupazzi sono quelli con cui si discute e ci si fanno venire le idee, anche se sono lontani.

L'idea e' partita vedendo delle foto di qualcuno che giocava a Bolt Action con modelli in scala 1/35 e pensando a quanto tempo, denaro e sforzo la cosa richiedesse, per non parlare delle dimensioni del tavolo da gioco. Ma pansando comunque che fosse una cosa interessaante e spinti dal VJ che ci ricordava quando comuni fossero i kit della Tamiya di seconda mano in Giappone, abbiamo ragionato sul fatto che sarebbe interessante travare un modo per giocare usando solo una piccola squadra di fanteria a testa, senza armi di supporto o veicoli, un vero e proprio skirmish su un tavolo di dimensioni ragionevoli (120x120), veicoli e cannoni, se uno volesse cimentarsi a livello modellistico, potrebbero fungere da elementi scenici o obiettivi per le partie.

Io mi sono messo a cercare in rete ed ho trovato un regolamento gratuito di poche pagine proprio per il genere di gioco che avevo in mente, quindi il progetto mi e' sembrato fattibile con sforzo, finanze e tempi non assurdi.

Mentre ero dal VJ in Giappone per capodanno, ho cominciato con del modesto shopping, procurandomi tre kit di truppe tedesche, tanto per cominciare ed e' anche venuto fuori che James, un amico del VJ, gli aveva dato un semovente italiano Bassotto in 1/35 con dei carristi ed un Bersagliere.

Quindi, come inizio morbido, ho restaurato il Bersagliere ed il capocarro che non avrei piu' utilizzato sul veicolo, siccome lo restaurero' con i portelli chiusi. I due modelli non erano muniti di armi, ma avevo un paio di opzioni avanzate dal kit della Dragon che ho postato qualche tempo fa, cosi' ho potuto renderli utilizzabili. Non sono nulla di che' come pittura, ma possono andre per il tavolo da gioco, poi piu' avanti mi mettero' sotto con i kit che ho preso in Giappone e vedremo se riusciro' a giocare qualche partita prima o poi.

Highlander boardgame/Gioco da tavolo di Highlander

 This week just a little post about a board game that IlVJ got quite a while ago, it is a quick and simple game themed on the Highlander movie from the 80s from Riverhorse Games.

We played a few games over Christmas when I was in Japan and we painted the figures included as a brother's joint project, I painted 4 figures, IlVJ painted three.

Questa settimana un piccolo post a proposito di un gioco da tavolo che IlVJ compro' un po' di tempo fa, e' un gioco semplece e veloce basato sul film Highlander, prodotto da Riverhorse Games.

Abbiamo fatto qualche partita nel periodo natalizio quando ero in Giappone e abbiamo dipinto le miniature come progetto fraterno, ioho dipinto quattro pezzi, IlVJ tre.

Clan Nova Cat invasion force/Forza d'invasione del clan Nova Cat

 These are the last of the Clan Mechs (and vehicles) that I own, after much deliberation I wend for Nova Cat Clan, since I'm mostly interested to refight the event of the Smoke Jaguar Vs Dracinis Combine invasion corridor, it makes sense to have a force of the supporting clan on that side of the fight.

Questi sono gli ultimi mech (e veicoli) dei clan che possiedo, dopo lunghe elucubrazioni ho deciso di dipingerli nei colori dei Nova Cat, siccome m'interessa principalmente giocare il corridoio d'invasione della Inner Sphere che ha visto il clan Smoke Jaguar combattere la Draconis Combine, mi pare abbia senso che il clan Nova Cat, scelto come riserva in quella zona d'attacco, avesse una rappresentanza.

 These are the last two mechs I needed to paint to complete the last star of Clan Smoke Jaguar I had planned, now the total force comprises three front line mech stars, a garrison mech star and five Elemental stars, ready for invading the Inner Sphere or defending the home planet in Operation Bulldog.

Questi sono gli ultimi due mech che mi servivano per completare l'ultima star di Smoke Jaguar che avevo in mente, ora l'esercito comprende tre stars di mech di prima linea, una star di mech di guarnigione e cinque star di Elemental, tutti pronti per invadere l'Inner Sphere o difendere il pianeta madre durante l'operazione Bulldog.
