Warhammer 40K second edition throwback

The models I'm posting this week are from a trade I did with Dave a couple of years back.

They are second edition 40K Chaos Space Marines. I had these guys ready quite a while back, but I wasn't able to decide how to paint them, first I was thinking World's Eaters in the original white and blue colours, then I thought Alpha Legion, then something else...

I kept not deciding until I come back to Italy and fate decided for me. While visiting my friend Sergio, I got a home made warhound titan and a squad of Chaos space marines bikers, both with Tzeentch iconography. At that moment, I decided to paint all these as [art of a warband dedicated to the Changer of the Ways, without being Thousand Sons.

I decided for a green and bronze scheme, with some verdigris on the bronze to add a bit of interest.

The next unit will be the Bikers, then I'll fix the Warhound (it has weak knees) and then I will work on that too. 

I'm still not playing any 40K and I'm moving again, so these are not really high priority, but they will be done eventually.

More Bretonnians, noblewomen

 This week we have a model from Thunderbolt Mountain, a very old company who had a series of Arthurian models sculpted by the legendary Tom Meyer.

It is a set of the same model mounted and on foot. I have another bunch of these representing knights and pegasi, they are a bit small (true 25mm) compared to Citadel and Grenadier miniarures, but the quality of the sculpts is absolutely amazing.

I painted this one to use as a civilian or a damsel of the Lady and having the mounted or foot option makes it a very useful model.

Bretonnian foot knights

 This is a unit of Bretonnian foot knights that I put together with very old Ral Partha, historical figures adding some command from Old Glory medieval and a leader from RAFM.

I took inspiration from the army list addendum for Warhammer third edition published in the early 90s on White Dwarf when a new line of models was sculpted by the Perry twins.

I had a lot of fun painting the different heraldries, I tried to keep the simple, but interesting, the unit looks quite colourful and spectacular.

The banner is a photocopy that I painted over.

I might think of expanding the unit in the future, but I'll have to see what models I still have in the stash that might fit in with these ones.

The pictures are not the best, but I haven't had time to retake and edit them.

A refurbished Gorkamorka Ork

 This is a model that my friend Sergio gave me at the same time he gave me the Epic Ork building I posted last week.

In the same way, this is a model he had lying in his basement, with a few chips on the paintjob and missing a base, so he gifted it to me to restore.

It didn't take long to fix it up, a touch up here and there, a new base and he was done.

My orks are more old school, all in the colour of one of the major six clans, done in 80s 90s style, so this one doesn't really fit, but I'm sure I can easily have him pass for a Snakebite runtherd.
