I'm still here
Hi everyone, I'm not dead, but life has been very busy in the past month or so and I had not much time for painting and nothing to post... until now.
I just managed to finish a few models for my Badab war ongoing project.
These guys make up a Raptor Legion assault combat squad in the Blizzard suit variant. As customary I try to use as many old school models as possible and I do freehand shoulder pads symbols to keep the Rogue Trader style.
I enjoyed painting these models, I had to find a way to reproduce the snow camo effect and I added snow effect on the bases, pretty cool in my opinion.
I hope I can finish something else for next week, let's keep our fingers crossed.

Rogue trader Imperial Guard Sentinel squadron
This is a trio of old Rogue Trader sentinels I picked up at the games club some 10-15 years ago, built, converted and painted.
They were green and didn't match my IG colours, so I stripped, but kept the light conversions as the previous owner made them.
After more than a decade I decided it was time to paint them.
I'm happy with the result and realized that now with Ogryns and Sentinels, I should paint more infantry, we will see when I get around to doing it.

Finally something painted
I managed to finish something. It is a unit of Warhammer 40K ogryn that I managed to put together over the years.
the leader (the one in the center) is an old Rogue Trader model by Bob Olley, an absolute treat to paint. It is supposed to have a back banner, but I don't have the original piece, so I decided to omit it for now and see if I have the will power to build one and paint a banner for its back.
The three identical models are from 3rd edition, the model was a special character called Nork Deddog, but I managed to gather three of them and use them as troops.
The last one is a 4th edition one, much bigger than the other ones, but I don't really care too much, it feels like the big guy in the unit.

The first models from Italy
I made it back to Italy. The first few weeks were very busy dealing with the bureaucratic monsters of this country, but now I'm kind of settled and ready to go.
I brought my paints and few brushes with me, but the bulk of the stuff is still on a boat crossing the ocean.
The urge to do some painting finally won and I pulled out some figures that had been kicking around for almost 10 years here, an old primer can and tried to see what I could do.
The results are not great, the main missing item is my magnifying lens, so painting is way harder than it should be, but I managed to complete a couple of figures and have another 2 or 3 on the way.

A small addition to the Badab War collection
I painted a few more models for my very long term Badab War project.
As long time readers might know, I decide, years ago, to paint whatever space marine model I still had kicking around, in the various colours of the Rogue trader article concerning the Badab War.
The idea is to paint a few models every year to end up with at least one each of the various colour schemes, including the camo variants.
Below is the latest batch of figures I painted.

Old School Warhammer 40,000
Last year I got some Rogue Trader era imperial guard models as a trade for painting. They were mostly assembled, some had bits missing and others had goofy "conversions" made by the original owner, I tried to fix them as best I could and painted them in my planned desert yellow colour.
Since the equipment was kind of random (LOTS of lascannons), I could not make a complete squad, but I gave them markings so that I'll be able to complete them in 3 units with the lot I have in Italy once I go back.
For now I have the beginning of three squads, here they are:

Sci-fi troops for Warhammer 40K and Warzone
This week we have a small selection of semi-random models I painted for use in Warzone and 40K games, mostly Warzone, since I haven't played a "proper" 40K game in years.
The idea was to have some generic troops to boost the numbers in my Warzone armies, but the mutants were more built and painted as generic troops that could be used in a chaos cult, a genestealer cult or some other for of evil/chaotic army or Warzone Dark Legion.
The "marines" can also be used as Coalition troops for a Rifts RPG.
I'm pretty happy how both units turned out, the marines are from RAFM and were given to me by my friend Cristian years ago, the others are rogue trader imperial guard bodies with early 2000 chaos mutations and marauders bits.

Dark Angel captain
This model is one of the 6 MK VII armour Space marines captains that were released in 1990, it is a super classic and, even if my paint job doesn't make it justice, I'm happy to have it in my collection.
I still have the Space Wolves one to paint and then I will have all six done.

Warhammer 40,000 Blood Angels chaplain
This is a model I have owned for over 20 years, I figured it was time to paint it.
It is a very simple model, but I really enjoyed painting it, it brought back memories of 40K second edition, the one I played the most and the one I have the best memories of.

The Badab war project part 2
This is the (very small) contingent of renegade space marines I painted for my Badab war project, more will come in the future, but for now this is all there is.

The Badab War project
As I had announced a long time ago, I decided to slowly paint the remainder of my space marines to represent the various chapters involved in the Badab War.
I am moving through this project on both 40K stuff and Epic, I'm sticking to the background and colour schemes as presented in the Warhammer 40,000 Compendiuim from the Rogue Trader era, that is when I first got interested in this conflict, so it makes sense that the original Gary Chalk representation of the various chapters of Space marines be my guide in the development of the project.
In this post I'm showing what I painted in the past year as part of the loyalist chapters. Since there are only four renegade chapters, and a ton of loyalist ones and I want to have at least a single model of each of the uniform options, it makes sense that the loyalist have the lion's share of the models, but I'll try to get more renegades done as well in the future.
